玛莎·斯考特因在《十诫》,《宾虚》等好莱坞史诗大片中扮演查尔登·海斯顿的母亲而知名。玛莎1912年9月22日生于密苏里州,她的母亲是曾经的美国总统威廉·麦金莱的表妹。第二次世界大战期间,玛莎开始参演一些莎翁名剧,随后她前往纽约,出演了自己的银幕处女作《我们的小镇》,她的表演非常出彩,获得了1941年奥斯卡的最佳女主角提名。虽然她参演了《十诫》《宾虚》等史诗大片。80年代她转向幕后,制作了《女神也疯狂》。她一生共有两次婚姻,第一次是1940年嫁给了制片人CarltonAlsop,第二次婚姻是1946年与爵士钢琴家MelPowell结合。2003年5月28日,玛莎在丈夫的陪伴下寿终正寝,享年90岁。
